Precautions for installation of thrust bearings

Release time:2025-04-23 hits:0

Flat thrust bearings mainly bear axial loads in assemblies and are widely used. Although the installation and operation of thrust bearings are relatively simple, errors often occur during actual maintenance, that is, the installation positions of the tight and loose rings of the bearing are incorrect, resulting in the bearing losing its function and the shaft neck being quickly worn out. The inner ring of the tight ring is a transitional fit with the shaft neck. When the shaft rotates, it drives the tight ring and rubs against the end face of the stationary part. When subjected to axial force (Fx), the friction torque will be greater than the inner diameter fitting resistance torque, causing the tight ring and the shaft fitting surface to forcibly rotate, exacerbating the wear of the shaft neck.

Therefore, the following points should be noted when installing thrust bearings.

(1) Distinguish between the tight ring and the loose ring of the bearing (based on the size of the bearing inner diameter, with a hole diameter difference of 0.1-0.5mm).

(2) Distinguish the stationary parts of the mechanism (i.e. non moving components, mainly referring to assembly bodies).

(3) In any case, the loose ring of the bearing should always rest on the end face of the stationary part.
